We had the good fortune of connecting with Tawney Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tawney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Typically marketing company’s are charging $500-$1000 just for their time and expertise then tacking on a budget of let’s say $500 for ads to actually grow the business. This is a huge expense for small businesses that are just starting or are a mom and pop, where most profit is needed to be funneled back into the business or take care of personal expenses. I would see the vicious cycle over and over again: need to spend money to make money but need to make money to spend money. I went back to school to focus on marketing and social media marketing. I was being taught the same thing, run ads.

So, I started my own marketing company to fulfill on one question, “How can I grow a business with the least amount money possible?”

4 years later, we have now created our own way to grow a business on social media organically and authentically. A client is paying us just for our time and expertise. We do everything by hand, so it keeps the cost down for the client and we have the ability to focus more on being the extension of the client. No one should ever know you have a marketing company. We pride ourselves in the ability to become the extension of the client and focus on authentic marketing that creates long lasting customer relationships.

What should our readers know about your business?
I specialize in social media marketing and management for small businesses that do not have large marketing budgets. Tealwing Marketing is unique because we are committed to helping businesses grow organically and authentically. Call it soulful marketing. Consumers do not want to be sold to anymore. They want to have that emotional connection to a business/brand. So that is our magic. We don’t market to get people to buy, we market to give value and build long lasting connection to the business/brand. If you can give value, educate, inspire, and motivate on social media than the nature action is you find your tribe and they will purchase from you!

We don’t use ads. It keeps marketing affordable and accessible to the average small business. We do a whole lot of work for not a whole lot of money, because every business deserves the chance to get in front of the right people with compassionate support.

MINDSET: I call myself a mindset healer. I have immersed myself in personal development the last 8 years. I firmly believe the more we do our inner work, the more our business grows.
I can market all day long for a business owner, but if they have a bunch of limiting beliefs hanging around, it blocks the abundance the business is meant for. Can you be successful and have limiting beliefs, OF COURSE! And, who I am for business owners, is that they receive success and are deeply fulfilled and aligned on a soul level. Ain’t nobody got time anymore for being rich and miserable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Ojai, CA. It is a small town but packed with such a radiant vibe. Feeling off or uninspired? Stop by Nutmeg’s House downtown and find the perfect crystal to raise your vibration! Definitely, need to have breakfast at Bonnie Lu’s, the food and service is like no other. They have been around for 25 years and still making magic for our community. I am slightly biased, since my mother owns it but hey, go meet her! She will make you feel like the most special human ever while you eat the best food.
